Theatre Artists in Service to the Community

Actors Umbrella
The community education and outreach arm of ATW.  Actors Umbrella is committed to providing access to information and resources in order to sustain the growth of the theatre community at large.  Actors Umbrella initiatives involve ATW taking a leadership, support or behind the scenes role on a number of strategic outreach projects.

 

2010/2011 ATW Actors Umbrella Projects

Children & Youth Theatre Education

  • Individual coaching for the passionate young actor or youth actors who wish to increase their call back ratios, are vying to be considered for a particular part, or who are working to improve skills or preparing audition pieces to apply to university theatre programs. For agest 7 and up.
  • Winter Break Camp project, for kids, tweens and teens who are interested in acting.The program culminates in a studio presentation at the weeks end The camp accepts students from 4 to 14.
  • March Break Camp project, and advanced acting camp for older children and tweens and teens who are serious about acting. The program culminates in a studio presentation at the weeks end. For ages 7 and up.

Professional Theatre Education

  • ATW Actors Lab,a no-cost a scene study opportunity for professional actors to work with other professionals so they can continue to develop and grow their craft. A 10-week annual event each fall. This year's focus is interdisciplinaryapplication of actor skills on the Mozart Operetta Der Schauspieldirektor. to be performed November, 17, 18 and 19.
  • ATW Masters Class, a professional actor education intensive (s) held each Spring. This year we anticipate the return of Carol Rosefeld, a nationally recognized Master Class teacher, based at HB Studio, New York. We are also investigating a holding a Viewpoints workshop, with more information to come as available.
  • ATW Stage Management Course, a professional theatre education workshop taught by Professional Stage Manager Crystal Salverda each March/April.

Theatre Education Projects the Community

  • The Gail Ray Grant for Children's Theatre is being applied to develop locally based shows on health for stuents in JK to Grade 4.
  • Windsor International Fringe Festival (July 15 to July 24, 2011) : ATW Actors Umbrella's aim in producing the Windsor Fringe is to increase affordable and accessible avenues for professional theatre:. For More information see www.windsofringe.com.
