Mission Statement
The ATW Professional Theatre Company Artistic Mission:
To develop and sustain a fully professional regional theatre serving Windsor-Essex and Southeastern Michigan that enriches through artistic production of the highest quality. We aim to expand perception of both artists and audiences by striving for authentic connection in our work for ourselves, our audiences and local aritists through production and education. We offer our art to develop local entertainment and tourism industry towards cultural and economic growth.
The work of Actors Theatre of Windsor is defined and generated by the singular vision of the artists with whom we collaborate in order to inform, entertain, and move. Our work speaks, in particular, to the themes and issues surrounding our lives at the geographical and political border, which separates and connects our Windsor-Detroit audience, and in so doing create work with the power to speak to wider audiences everywhere.
- Foster, produce and present a repertoire from the full-range of theatrical literature, from new plays, to accessible and illuminating productions of classical texts towards the theatrical entertainment, enrichment and education of the community at large.
- Support the creative development and risk taking of both established and emerging theatre artists towards their individual artistic education and professional growth.
- Be a leader in identifying synergies and process improvements for the cultural education of children and youth in Windsor Essex, by encouraging and creating opportunities for theatre professionals to support theatre outreach projects, in the spirit of community and collaboration.
- Be a catalyst for the exploration and development of networks for the presentation of theatre in Southwestern Ontario and South Eastern Michigan regions and beyond towards the cultural education of new theatre going audiences.
